In software, the first step is always to launch the, “Hello, World!” screen. I figure it’s only appropriate that I title the first DragonFly MAX blog post, “Hello, Athletic Training World.” After all, DragonFly MAX is, first and foremost, software designed to make the life of the Athletic Trainer just a little bit easier.
For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Brandon Wallace. I am the Director of Customer Support for DragonFly Athletics. Four years ago, DragonFly’s CEO, Kirk Miller, had the idea to develop a software solution for Athletic Trainers. I was lucky enough to be in the right place, at the right time, and he’s supported me in trying to deliver that software solution to all of you. For about three and a half of those four years, I’ve known that I wanted DragonFly MAX to be more than just a great app, I wanted to build an entire community designed around the central theme of lifting up the Athletic Training profession. I finally feel like we have reached a point that we can begin building that community.
As I thought about how I wanted to get the ball rolling on the DragonFly MAX blog, I knew the one thing that I had to focus on was how grateful I am to you guys (Athletic Trainers) for “adopting” me into your community. From my perspective, the Winston Churchill quote at the beginning of this post pretty much sums up the Athletic Training community. You’ve all been so gracious in welcoming me in, educating me about the profession, and supporting our efforts in building MAX.
I’ve formed numerous professional relationships over the past four years, but more importantly I’ve formed friendships with quite a few of you. None of these friendships has been more important than the friendship I’ve developed with Clint Sanders. For those of you that don’t know Clint, he was an Athletic Trainer at a secondary school in the state of Tennessee for about 15 years, prior to making the transition over to work for us at DragonFly. He’s taught me an immense amount about the life and times of Athletic Trainers. Any of the good ideas that you see in the app probably came from Clint...ha!
Alrighty, enough of the sappy stuff! So, what can you expect from this blog space here at DragonFly MAX? Hopefully you’ll find a great resource for keeping up-to-date on our development efforts here at DragonFly. But, we also want to use this space to highlight the Athletic Training profession as a whole, and to spotlight the efforts and outstanding work of many of you specifically. You’ll hear mostly from Clint in this space, not only because he’s the Athletic Trainer here at DragonFly, but mostly because he’s A LOT smarter than I am!
So, as we move forward, don’t be surprised if myself and/or Clint reach out to you about writing for us, or requesting to do a blog entry on your contributions to your school and the profession. We also welcome your requests and suggestions on what you’d like to hear about. Keep an eye out for new content here, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter, so you’ll know when we’ve dropped a new entry. Thank you all for being so welcoming to me, and I look forward to continuing to develop DragonFly MAX, as well as the Athletic Training community!
